Course objectives:
The aim of the course is to train students for teaching nature and biology in primary and secondary schools. To become aware of problems and consequences of the application of the various models of teaching biological content. Provide orientation of students in specific situations in teaching of Nature and Biology. Develop skills to establish successful communication with students and collaboration with other participants in the learning process.
COURSE CONTENT
Teaching is accomplished mentor and practice in teaching biological content with the guidance of teacher mentors in schools and mentor support and evaluation of university teachers, as well as support future work in the school at the seminar.
METHODICAL PRACTICE
Student participation in the mentor exemplary teaching and in teaching school accompanied by a mentor. Analysis of pupils learning needs in class which will be held teaching methodical practice. Proposal pedagogical and didactic procedures when working with specific students during practice. Making preparation and execution of training sessions student teachers. Preparing and conducting the performance of student projects, outdoor education, preparation and analysis of the results of written exams. Attending a school meeting and expert team of teachers as a form of lifelong education. Active participation in all aspects of school life. The organization and execution of thematic discussions with a given activity and stakeholders to the current problems of the work in school. Video footage of representative sections of the curriculum the student teachers, with the comment critical friend. The evaluation of students' work and achievements diagnosis by default outcomes. Evaluation mentor. Review of student teachers on their teaching during the methodical practice. Development of specific tasks that allow a more complete preparation of students for the work of teachers in the school. Preparing news for teachers in the form of newsletter for teachers from recent biological and methodological literature and Internet sources. Preparation, implementation and presentation action research project related to the teaching of Biology, in the form of an article for a journal. Preparing review articles of recent literature research for teaching biology. Peer evaluation of the work of another student as critical friends
SEMINAR
The seminar supports the practice and future work in the school along with the discussion of specific topics important for the work of teachers of biology.
1. lesson simulation with the example of analysis of teaching hours as a basis for evaluating the work during the practice;
2. action research as a basis for improving teaching;
3. - 14. the organization and execution of guided thematic discussions of the current problems of work at school, with a given activity and interactive participation of experts in their respective fields, teachers from the school and all the participants of the seminar (rights and duties of students and teachers, discipline in class, cooperation with parents and the class teacher, students with special needs, systematic monitoring of student progress and performance of the final grade);
15. Reviews for practice and contribution mentor, presentation of peer work during practice and reports of critical friends.
