Welcome to the homepage of 1st Workshop on Mass Spectrometry in Life Sciences!

The meeting aims to gather scientists with experience or interest in mass spectrometry of biomolecules in Croatia. Mass spectrometry has become an indispensable tool in life sciences and biomedical research, permeating all aspects of basic and applied scientific research. The group of scientists with practical knowledge and experience in Croatia is expanding, and also the number of researchers interested in using mass spectrometry in their research is rising. Faculty of Science recently acquired a new high-performance mass spectrometer dedicated to proteomics and mass spectrometry of biomolecules, and other institutions have the desire and ambitions to procure similar equipment. Therefore, the organizers feel there is a unique opportunity and need to gather scientists of different backgrounds and experience in order to transfer the knowledge of modern mass spec techniques and applications in life science and biomedical research, boost the mass spec fueled research in Croatia, and foster the collaboration involving mass spectrometry in Croatia. Although the meeting primarily targets Croatian scientists, the talks will be presented by eminent international speakers as well, and researchers from other countries are also welcome. The meeting is of broad scope regarding audience and topics covered and will include a practical hands-on workshop intended for Ph.D. students and postdocs. The official language is English.

The practical hands-on session on Saturday (November 26th, 2022) will introduce participants to basics of MS data processing, analysis and visualisation. The number of participants is limited to 25, and primarily intended for young scientists and users who may need to process and interpret raw MS data. The hands-on workshop is of no extra charge.

Looking forward to meet you at the Workshop!
