During field work in the vicinity of Zagreb, students learn and practice the basics of orientation in the field and work on the outcrop. Practical skills that students acquire: reading a topographic map and orientation, determining one's own position on the map using a compass, following azimuth, measuring distance by walking, measuring the thickness of sedimentary deposits, measuring of bed orientation, taking samples, describing of outcrop and keeping a field diary.
