Description:
COURSE GOALS: Understanding and correct usage of basic concepts/terms in pedagogy which are a frame of reference for communication in the teaching profession. Understanding of basic pedagogical trends and historical development of theoretical concepts of education that have influenced practical work in education. Understanding the basic methodological paradigms which are a starting point for the research of pedagogical phenomena and practical activities. Ability to apply theoretical concepts in analyzing school practices.

1. KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING
1.8. demonstrate knowledge and understanding of new insights into contemporary physics teaching methods and strategies;
1.10. integrate physics and informatics content knowledge with knowledge of pedagogy, psychology, didactics and teaching methods courses;
2. APPLYING KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING
2.2. recognize and follow the logic of arguments, evaluate the adequacy of arguments and construct well supported arguments;
2.9. create a learning environment that encourages active engagement in learning and promotes continuing development of pupils' skills and knowledge;
3. MAKING JUDGEMENTS
3.1. develop a critical scientific attitude towards research in general, and in particular by learning to critically evaluate arguments, assumptions, abstract concepts and data;
3.2. * develop clear and measurable learning outcomes and objectives in teaching based on curriculum goals;
3.3. accept responsibilities in planning and managing teaching duties;
3.4. demonstrate professional integrity and ethical behaviour in work with pupils and colleagues;

LEARNING OUTCOMES SPECIFIC FOR THE COURSE
* Upon completion of the course, students will be able to:
* Define basic pedagogical terms: education, socialization, intentional and non-intentional education, pedagogical communication
* Analyze and compare different approaches to defining basic terms
* Describe and explain various directions in educational theory
* Understanding the application of educational theory in school practice
* Apply, analyze and connect terms of the course content with problems within the teaching course in later studying (Didactics, Methodology).
* Judge and assess which known method is optimal for solving problems in school practice

COURSE DESCRIPTION:
Lectures per weeks (15 weeks in total):

6. Objectives, content and areas of education
7. Principles, strategies and methods of education
8. Education in family
9. Education in school: educational classes and relationships among students in class
10. Dealing with students that are difficult to bring up
11. Internalized and externalized forms of behavior
12. Communication in education
13. Media influences on education
14. Education outside of family and school
15. Alternative concepts of education and the challenges of education in the future

REQUIREMENTS FOR STUDENTS:
Students must solve 50% of the written exams (two times in the semester) and 50 % of homework.

GRADING AND ASSESSING THE WORK OF STUDENTS:
Grading and assessing the work of students during the semesters:
* Two written exams
