Description:
COURSE GOALS: The main goals of the course Physics School Experiments Laboratory 3 are to enable students to interactively conduct experiments in inquiry based physics teaching in elementary and high school, and to work with gifted students.

LEARNING OUTCOMES AT THE LEVEL OF THE PROGRAMME:
1. KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING
1.1. demonstrate a thorough knowledge and understanding of the fundamental laws of classical and modern physics;
1.3. demonstrate knowledge and understanding of basic experimental methods, instruments and methods of experimental data processing in physics;
1.4. demonstrate knowledge and understanding of new insights into contemporary physics teaching methods and strategies;
1.6. integrate physics content knowledge with knowledge of pedagogy, psychology, didactics and teaching methods courses;
2. APPLYING KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING
2.1. identify and describe important aspects of a particular physical phenomenon or problem;
2.2. recognize and follow the logic of arguments, evaluate the adequacy of arguments and construct well supported arguments;
2.4. prepare and perform classroom physics experiments and interpret the results of observation;
2.5. use information and communication technology efficiently (to foster active enquiry, collaboration and interaction in the classroom);
4. COMMUNICATION SKILLS
4.1. communicate effectively with pupils and colleagues;
4.2. present complex ideas clearly and concisely;
5. LEARNING SKILLS
5.1. search for and use professional literature as well as any other sources of relevant information;

LEARNING OUTCOMES SPECIFIC FOR THE COURSE:
* design and conduct simple homemade experiments
* prepare and conduct motivational experiments
* design simple experiments to support discussion during conceptual problem solving
* use same experiment in teaching students of different ages
* use computer and Vernier interface in school experiment
* conduct modern physics experiments with complex equipment in teaching high school physics
* independently conduct measurements for experimental problem from physics Olympiad

REQUIREMENTS FOR STUDENTS:
Students are required to regularly attend the laboratory (at least 80% of tutorials), to actively participate in conducting and discussing experiments, to analyse measurement data, and to give two seminars.

GRADING AND ASSESSING THE WORK OF STUDENTS:
The final grade is formed after the oral exam based on the work in the laboratory (2 ECTS credits), given seminars (1 ECTS credits) and oral exam (2 ECTS credits).
