All teaching activities will be held in Croatian. However, foreign students in mixed groups will have the opportunity to attend additional office hours with the lecturer and teaching assistants in English to help master the course materials. Additionally, the lecturer will refer foreign students to the corresponding literature in English, as well as give them the possibility of taking the associated exams in English.

1. Explaining the characteristics contributing to the diversity of crustaceans and their success to inhabit various ecosystems.
2. Defining the anatomical similarities of, and the differences between crustaceans and other arthropods.
3. Identifying and explaining the key morphological differences of each crustacean group.
4. Comparing external and internal crustacean anatomy.
5. Implementing various laboratory and field methods that are related to collecting, preparing, documenting and determining different crustacean.
6. Explaining the survival, reproduction and life strategy of different crustacean groups.
7. Describing the applications of crustacean behavioural ecology to conservation, wildlife management and legislation.

15. Vulnerability and protection of the family Astacidae in Europe

Practical lessons include two field trips and laboratory analyses of samples and data from the field.
1. Field trip to the Medvednica Mt. (Vrapčak Stream, subthermal source (Sutinska vrela) and aquifer of the Sava valley (Podsused)) - Different fieldwork methods of collecting different crustaceans in streams, springs and interstitial environment; Taxonomical determination of collected specimens in the laboratory.
2. Field trip to the Jarun Lake - Different fieldwork methods of collecting crustaceans in still water; Determination of collected specimens in the laboratory; Estimation of population size of macroscopic and microscopic species; Preparation of graphical presentation of crayfish year cycle.
