LEARNING OUTCOMES: Knowledge of basic paleontologic analysis of fossil record, Ability to describe and determine relation between fossil and sediment, Ability to understand general characteristics of fossil remrants for each fossil group, Ability to understand general aspects of paleoecology, paleogeofraphy and biostratigraphy, Ability to understand extinction and evolution through geologic past.
COURSE CONTENT: Fossils and fossilization; Taphonomy and paleontological analysis of fossil record; Elements of fossil remains and microfacies; Taxonomy, Evolution; Fossil Protistans; Paleobotany, Sponges, Arcaeocyathans, Cnidarians; Molluscs and Polymeria; Oligomeria and Vertebrates; Trace fossils; Paleoecology; Biostratigraphy; Paleobiogeography; Extinction; History of the Earth.
