COURSE AIMS AND OBJECTIVES: To train students to apply the basic principles of information security in the construction, use and analysis of secure systems.

COURSE DESCRIPTION AND SYLLABUS:
1. Introduction and motivation, network security
2. Public key infrastructure, key exchange and certification
3. Security protocol examples (NS and NSL, IPSec, SSL/TLS, SSH)
4. Formal verification of security protocols by using Scyther and Tamarin
5. Kerberos, IKE, ISO standards for key exchange and authentication
6. Access control, security policies and models, information flow
7. Anonymity and data protection (mix networks, Tor)
