Division of mathematical analysis was founded in 1978.
The head of the division is Izv. prof. dr. sc. Ilja Gogić.
The main research interest of the members of the Division is functional analysis, especially operator theory, C*-algebras, Hilbert C^*-modules, harmonic analysis, wavelets and frames. These are the topics of interest for Lj. Arambašić, D. Bakić, T. Berić, L. Cigler, I. Gogić, P. Goldstein, B. Guljaš, D. Ilišević and M. Tomašević.
The second main topic is representation theory of real reductive groups, especially applications of Dirac operators to this theory. This is the topic of interest for J. Grgurić, K. Grizelj, D. Husadžić, H. Kraljević, P. Pandžić and A. Prlić. Members of the Division are also interested in algebraic topology (M. Bašić), History of mathematics (F.M. Brückler) and bioinformatics (P. Goldstein).
The members of the Division teach many classes in the bachelor program and in the masters program. Most notably, these are classes of analysis and functional analysis
(Mathematical analysis 1 and 2, Basics of mathematical analysis, Multivariable differential calculus, Multivariable integration, Complex analysis, Normed spaces, Operators on normed spaces). They also teach the classes Linear algebra 1 and 2, Differential geometry 1 and 2, Introduction to mathematics, Elementary geometry, History of mathematics, Didactics of mathematics, Inquiry based learning and problem solving, Students' competitions in mathematics, Bioinformatics 1 and 2, as well as various service courses for science majors. They also teach classes in the doctoral program; in recent years, these were the basic course Geometry and topology, and advanced courses in operator theory and in representation theory.
The members of the Division also hold, or held in the past, numerous administrative positions. For example, H. Kraljević was the chairman of the Department of Mathematics for a number of years, and then he was the Minister of science and technology from 2000 to 2002. P. Pandžić was the acting dean of the Department of Mathematics in 2005/06, and D. Bakić was the head of the Department of Mathematics from 2010 zo 2014.
