COURSE AIMS AND OBJECTIVES: The aim of the course is to develop competencies of pre-service physics teachers to independently prepare, perform and interpret physics school experiments. The emphasis is on the student and demonstration experiments which help students to acquire a physical experience of new phenomena. Experiment and corresponding discussion are essential for further generalization and development of physical ideas.
COURSE DESCRIPTION AND SYLLABUS:
1. Demonstration experiments.
2. Conceptual understanding of physics - the initial test and discussion.
3. Law of conservation of energy.
4. Heat.
5. Radioactivity.
6. Resistance in AC circuits.
7. Atomic physics.
8. Conceptual test and discussion.
9. Harmonic oscillations.
10. Gas laws.
11. Law of conservation of momentum.
12. Experiments with computers.
13. Wave properties of light.
14. Conceptual test and discussion.
15. Extra lab time.
Exercise 3 to 7 and 9 to 13 are carried out cyclically.
