Description:
COURSE AIMS AND OBJECTIVES: Training students in the practical application of computer programming.

COURSE DESCRIPTION AND SYLLABUS:
1. Reference data types (e.g. pointers) as a means of general representation of structured data in computer memory.
2. Examples of structured data: linked lists, matrices, trees, graphs. Comparison with types from the standard library.
3. Dynamic memory management. Different ways of storing data in memory (primarily stack and heap). Static and dynamic memory. Comparison of manual and automatic memory management.
4. Applied programming. Code readability, separation into multiple files, use of (own or external) libraries, execution of external programs with parameter passing. Basics of network communication (sockets). Working with basic text formats such as CSV and JSON.
5. Working with files. Standard input and output as files. Input and output redirection. Opening and closing files, modes of operation (text and binary, reading and writing).
In addition to lectures and exercises, seminars are planned in which students will be introduced to various other programming languages and/or additional topics related to applied programming will be presented.
