Short review of the role of fluctuations in equilibrium many body systems; space- and time correlations; fluctuation dissipation theorem. Phase transitions - phenomenology, examples, common properties, classification. Mean-field theories. Simple models, exact solutions, approximate methods. Scaling concept and universality of critical behaviour. Renormalization group, Wilson's expansion, real space RG. Quantum phase transitions, examples of quantum-classical correspondence. Percolation and fractals. Disorder, frustration and complex forms of ordering. Self-organized complex systems. Phase transitions in systems far from equilibrium |
