LEARNING OUTCOMES:
1. To become familiarised with the role of evolution and biogeography in the distribution of mammals in Croatia and in the world
2. To differentiate the anatomical and molecular arguments in the modern systematisation of mammals.
3. To understand the anatomy and morphology of mammals in relation to their ecological and etiological characteristics.
4. To differentiate the basic research methods for mammals, depending on the research objectives and reasons for their study.
5. To associate knowledge of domestication processes with the development of human civilisation and society.
6. To identify the basic causes of threat to mammals.
7. To apply knowledge from mammology in nature protection and conservation biology.
8. To analyse and use the scientific and expert literature in mammology.

1. Evolution, phylogeny and biogeography of mammals.
2. Systematics and diversity of mammals.
3. Functional anatomy and morphology.
4. Movement in mammals.
5. Reproduction and parenting.
6. Diet.
7. Domestication.
8. Social behaviour and communications.
9. Thermoregulation and water regulation.
10. History of mammal research in Croatia.
11. Diversity and characteristics of bats. Echolocation. Bats in Croatia.
12. Diversity and characteristics of whales. Whales in Croatia.
13. Diversity and characteristics of carnivores. Large carnivores in Croatia.
14. Parasites, pests and zoonoses.
15. Causes of threat and protection of mammals.

LABORATORY WORK:
In addition to the premises of the Division of Zoology, classes will also be held at the Croatian Natural History Museum, Zagreb Zoo, and at the Department for Anatomy and Histology of the Faculty of Veterinary Science, University of Zagreb.
