COURSE OBJECTIVES:
The objective of Physical chemistry 1 course is the familiarization with physical-chemical concepts required for primary and secondary school chemistry education. Comprehension of basic concepts of quantum mechanics and atomic and molecular structure.

COURSE CONTENT:

1-2) The overview of physical chemistry and quantity calculus;
3-4) The wavelike properties of particles and the uncertainty principle;
5) The postulates of quantum mechanics;
6) Particle in a box;
7) Harmonic oscillator;
8-9) The hydrogen atom and atomic orbitals;
10) Spin and multi-electron atoms;
11) Born-Oppenheimer approximation;
12-13) Molecular orbitals and the structure of diatomic molecules;
14-15) Correlation diagrams and hybridization.
