Separation of the components of mixture: decantation, filtration, extraction, recrystalization, fraction crystalization, distillation, vakuum-distilation, sublimation. Melting point of unknown solid. Boiling point of unknown liquid. Properties and reactivity of elements. Molecular weight determination.

LEARNING OUCOMES:
After completion of this course, the successful student will be able to:
1. Perform general chemistry laboratory experiments using standard chemistry glassware and equipment.
2. Demonstrate appropriate safety procedures proficiently in handling the common laboratory chemicals.
3. Record, graph, chart and interpret data obtained from experimentation.
4. Construct a laboratory notebook.
5. Construct a laboratory report including analysis of the work.
6. Formulate and discuss data-supported conclusions.
7. Use equipment in the laboratory to properly measure mass, volume, pressure, temperature.
8. Demonstrate knowledge of solution types, the dissolving process and the relationship between solubility and temperature.
9. Identify unknown substances demonstrating knowledge of matter properties.
