Description:
LEARNING OUTCOMES:
Basic knowledge and understanding of the natural sciences (Physics) underlying the study of biology and chemistry.
Ability to use simple quantitative physical methods and to apply them to biology and chemistry.
Basic awareness of physical principles of relevant state-of-the-art technologies and their application in biology and chemistry.
Knowledge of the common terminology and nomenclature and the use of bibliography in physics.
Understanding of physical concepts of environmental science problems and the feasibility of their solution.
Basic ability to solve numerical problems using computer and non-computer based techniques.

Thermodynamics. Brownian motion.
Waves and sound.
Optics. Reflection and refraction of light. Interference of light.
Microscope. Spectrophotometry.
Optical properties of liquids. Optical activity of liquids. Polarization.
Electric forces and electric fields. Electric circuits. Ohm law.
Magnetic forces and magnetic fields. Electromagnetic induction.
Electromagnetic waves. Spectrum of electromagnetic radiation.
Nature of atom. Absorption of electromagnetic radiation. Ionizing radiation.
