Description:
COURSE GOALS: To prepare students in a practical way to teach technology and informatics in elementary schools.

LEARNING OUTCOMES AT THE LEVEL OF THE PROGRAMME:

Upon completing the degree, students will be able to:

1. Knowledge and understanding
1.6. demonstrate knowledge and understanding of new insights into contemporary physics, informatics and technology teaching methods and strategies
1.8. integrate physics, informatics and technology content knowledge with knowledge of pedagogy, psychology, didactics and teaching methods courses
2. Applying knowledge and understanding
2.6. use information and communication technology efficiently (to foster active enquiry, collaboration and interaction in the classroom)
2.7. prepare and perform classroom practicals (practical work)
2.8. create a learning environment that encourages active engagement in learning and promotes continuing development of pupils' skills and knowledge

LEARNING OUTCOMES SPECIFIC FOR THE COURSE:
1. plan and design appropriate teaching lessons and learning activities based on curriculum goals and principles of interactive enquiry-based teaching;
2. plan and design efficient and appropriate assessment strategies and methods to evaluate and ensure the continuous development of pupils;
3. prepare and perform classroom practicals (practical work);
4. reflect on and evaluate their own practice of teaching;
5. communicate effectively with pupils.

COURSE DESCRIPTION:
Students attend lessons of chosen teachers of technology at elementary schools and after each lesson they discuss it (35 hours)
Afterwards they prepare themselves for teaching, teach 3 trial lessons in a class. Teacher of technology (mentor) and other students attend the lessons, and later they analyze and discuss lessons (45 hours).
If they are ready, according to mentor's opinion, to teach, they prepare and perform the exam lesson. Teacher of technology (mentor) and other students attend the exam lesson, and later they all discuss it (10 hours)

REQUIREMENTS FOR STUDENTS:
* regular attendance;
* teaching 3 trial lessons in a class;
* active participation in discussions;
* performing the exam lesson.

GRADING AND ASSESSING THE WORK OF STUDENTS:
The final grade is formed on the basis: active participation in discussions (5%), written preparations for lessons (25%), the exam lesson (70%).
