PRACTICUM AND SEMINAR
1. Marine life structural and functional characteristics of pelagic organisms.
2. Oceanographic and ecological regulators of the distribution of marine organisms in the sea; temperature, salinity, nutrients, light, winds, currents, frontal systems
3. Microbial processes. Role of marine organisms in regulation of biogeochemical cycles. Horizontal and vertical transport in ocean. Exchange of gases. Distribution in trophic and thermohaline gradijent.
4. Methods on the research vessel and in the laboratory. Use of computer and graphic programmes in presentation of spatial and temporal distribution of oceanographic factors and organisms (in the field work). Analysis of data published in scientific journals, and interesting chapters in oceanography and biology of the Adriatic and Mediterranean Seas.
