Description:
COURSE AIM:
The aim of the course is to provide insight into the history of science and technology while raising awareness and understanding of the creation and development of scientific thought in relation to scientific thought in biology. The aim is also to enable students to teach and learn part of the macroconcept Natural science approach associated with the development of scientific thought in biology for students in primary and secondary schools, taking into account the age of students.

COURSE CONTENT:
LECTURES
1-2) the emergence of scientific thought and a scientific view that implies that there are cause-and-effect relationships in nature and that natural phenomena are explainable
3-4) the history of science and the history of biological thought in the historical-socio-economic context and its influence on susceptibility to change and additions
5-6) introduction to the development of technology throughout history
7-9) the importance of respecting copyrights with an introduction to selected discoveries in the field of biology
10-12) molecular biology as part of interdisciplinary research
13-15) the impact of research and discoveries in the field of molecular biology on the development of society

SEMINARS
1) workshops, discussions and simulations of classes:
the importance of respecting copyrights, the responsibility of scientists and society as a whole when using the results of biological discoveries;
connecting biological discoveries with the development of civilization and the application of technology in everyday life;
justification of research on living organisms and other ethical issues in biological research;
application of biological discoveries while making decisions about one's own actions;
communicating and interpreting scientific information in the media
2) students address specific topics from the history of biology, placing them in a historical context in order to understand the development of scientific thought ? each student independently prepares a seminar on a given topic
