Description:
COURSE OBJECTIVES:
The objective of the course Invertebrates is to acquaint students with invertebrate biodiversity and classification through the analysis of phylogeny, anatomy, morphology and ecological and ethological adaptations on the environmental conditions, importance of invertebrates in food webs and their importance for humans. Students will learn about distribution, diversity and basic morphology and adaptations of typical invertebrates of certain groups in Croatian fauna.

COURSE CONTENT:
Diversity, functional structure, distribution and ethology, adaptations on environmental conditions, ecological significance and the importance for humans of certain invertebrate groups, with the emphasis on the Croatian fauna: Porifera, Cnidaria, Ctenophora, Platyhlminthes, Nemertea, Aschelminthes and Rotifera, Mollusca, Annelida, Arthropoda (Cheliceriformes, Crustacea, Myriapoda, Hexapoda, Echinodermata.
