Learning outcomes:
1 To put in relation knowledge of Plant developmental biology, Cell biology and genetics
2 Development of holistic picture of the coordination of plant development with understanding and sistematization of mechanisms involved.
3 Clarification of cell communication, intrinsic and extrinsic informations, developmental role of cell wall, importance of cell and cell position (longitudinal and radial) in development, enviromental signals, growth regulators and their mechanisms of action
4 Establishment of polarity and identity of the cell.
1 Plant life cycle(2 hour) alternation of generation; gametophyte development; sporophyte development
2 Polarity of cell and plant body (2 hour) cell wall, plasmodesmata, asymmetric cell division
3 Intrinsic informations (2 hours) Lineage; Relation between age and position
4 Extrinsic informations (4 hours) Establishment of polarity in embryogenesis: Longitudinal axis of Fucus embryo; Longitudinal axis of Arabidopsis embryo; Radial axis of arabidopsis embryo; 5 Axis development in the leaf and flower
6 Positional informations (4 hours) Position relative to a particular cell, tissue and Organ ((trichomes, root hairs, phylotaxy)
7Enviromental factors (4 hours) Light developmental responses to light
8 Growth regulators (6 hours) Auxins, giberelins, Cytokinins, Apscisic acid, ethylene, Brasinosteroides

1 Plant transformation and applications Biolistic transformation (preparation of gold particles, bombardment andmonitoring)
