COURSE OBJECTIVES:
The objective of the course School vivarium is to educate students on how to apply vivaria in the teaching of Nature and Biology subjects.

COURSE CONTENT:

LECTURES
1) Vivaristics - term and definition. Types of vivaria;
2) Animals and plants in vivarium;
3) Breeding methods and conditions of keeping animals in vivaria;
4) Cultivation methods and plant maintenance conditions in vivaria;
5) School garden;
6) "Live corner" at school;
7) Plant and animal material from nature;
8) Dangers in working with animals;
9) Dangers in working with plant material;
10) Botanical and zoological gardens;
11) Construction and use of marine aquarium;
12) Construction and use of freshwater aquarium;
13) How to make and use terrariums;
14) Use of vivarium in biology lessons;
15) Experiments that can be performed in biology classes using vivaria.

EXERCISES-SEMINARS
As part of the exercises-seminars, students will make different types of vivaria, and design and set up simple experiments that can be performed in biology classes using vivaria. It is planned to visit institutions that professionally deal with vivaristics (e.g., insectarium and terrariums in the Zagreb Zoo, Botanical Garden, aquarium).
