The Faculty Council of the Faculty of Science, University of Zagreb (hereinafter: the PMF), pursuant to Articles 73 and 77 of the Faculty Statutes, announces the following:

C A L L   F O R   A P P L I C A T I O N S

for the appointment of 

1) an associate to the associate position of a senior assistant in natural sciences, the field of biology, for a fixed term and on a full-time basis, to work on the Croatian Science Foundation research project IP-2022-10-1358: “Detecting a gene regulatory network for glycosylation of immunoglobin G by using the molecular tools CRISPR/dCas9 (IgGeneNET)“ at the PMF, Department of Biology – 1 person.

2) an associate to the associate position of a senior assistant in natural sciences, the field of biology, the branch of biochemistry and molecular biology, for a fixed term and on a full-time basis, at the Division of Molecular Biology of the PMF, Department of Biology – 1 person.

3) an associate to the associate position of an assistant in natural sciences, the field of biology, for a fixed term (as a substitute for the duration of the maternal /parental leave), on a full-time basis, to work on the project: “A systematic examination of the fish biological quality element in the inland surface waters” at the Division of Zoology of the PMF, Department of Biology – 1 person

TERMS AND CONDITIONS:

The Call is open to applicants of either gender on equal terms.

In addition to the general terms and conditions of employment, for any point of the Call the applicants must satisfy the requirements set out in the Act on Higher Education and Scientific Activity (Official Gazette No 119/22).

 

For all points of the Call, in addition to the application the applicants submit: a CV, the relevant diploma, a proof of citizenship.

 

For point 1, in addition to the application, the applicants must satisfy the following conditions:

 

  • a doctoral degree in natural science, the field of biology;
  • experience in the field of epigenetics and glycobiology. This can be proven by the doctoral dissertation topic, and the published research papers;
  • knowledge of the methods used in epigenetic research, including working with animal cells and molecular cloning with CRISPR/dCas9 tools. The supporting documents should include the CV and the published papers.

For point 2, in addition to the application, the applicants must satisfy the following conditions:

 

  • a doctoral degree in natural sciences, the field of biology;
  • experience in the research and teaching of the light and electronic microscopy, as well as proteomics. The supporting documents should include the doctoral dissertation, the scientific papers, as well as the evidence of professional training and the course certificates.

For point 3, in addition to the application, the applicants must satisfy the following conditions:

 

  • To have completed a graduate university or an integrated undergraduate and graduate university study programme in a natural science field;
  • To have experience related to the ichtyological research and molecular biology techniques. The supporting documents should include the professional reports confirming that the applicant is credited as a co-author or an associate and/or the project leader recommendations;
  • Taking part in fish conservation projects. The supporting documents should include the professional reports confirming that the applicant is credited as a co-author or an associate and/or the project leader recommendations;
  • A B-category driving license;
  • Taking part in course delivery (delivering practical classes and/or fieldwork classes or taking part in course delivery as a demonstrator). This can be proven by the applicant’s demonstrator certificates; 

For points 1, 2 and 3, in addition to the application, the applicants should provide a proof of eligibility under the additional terms and conditions in accordance with the Ordinance on Additional Terms and Conditions for Appointment into Grades and the Corresponding Positions at the Department of Biology, Faculty of Science, University of Zagreb.

For points 1 and 3, the applicants who qualify for employment preference under the special regulations should refer to the preference in their application and enclose therewith all evidence as listed in the special regulations governing the priority placement rights, as well as all evidence of eligibility and of absence of any impediment to their exercising of the priority placement rights as stipulated under the special regulations. Such applicants will be given employment preference within this Call over other candidates, under the same terms and conditions of the Call, based on a duly completed, complete and timely application.

 

The applicants for points 2 who qualify for employment preference under the special regulations should refer to the preference in their application and enclose therewith all evidence as listed in the special regulations governing the priority placement rights, as well as all evidence of eligibility and of absence of any impediment to their exercising of the priority placement rights as stipulated under the special regulations. Such applicants will be given employment preference within this point of the Call over other candidates, under the same terms and conditions of the Call, based on a duly completed, complete and timely application, provided that they meet all the terms and conditions of the Call and that they have achieved the top scores at the interview.

 

An application shall be deemed duly completed and complete if it contains all the data and the supporting documents in keeping with the Call requirements. Incomplete, disorganised, and late applications shall not be taken into consideration, nor will there be a subsequent invitation to the applicants to amend such applications.

 

Foreign nationals must provide a Croatian language certificate for points 2 and 3 of the Call.

 

All the applicants applying for point 2 who are fully eligible under the formal terms and conditions of the Call, based on a duly completed, complete and timely application, shall be invited for an interview with the Selection Board.

              

The applicants will receive a separate invitation advising them of the time and place of the interview. Any applicants who fail to attend the interview at the time and the place as specified in the separate invitation, shall be deemed to have withdrawn from the Call proceedings.

 

The PMF collects and processes personal data of the applicants taking part in the Call for Applications for positions with the aim of verifying qualifications and eligibility in accordance with the Decision on the Collection, Protection and Processing of Personal Data (CLASSIFICATION No: 035-01/18-01/5; FILE No:251-58-10201-18-2).

 

The closing date for the submission of applications for the Call is 30 days after the publication of the Call in the Official Gazette. 

The results of the Call will be published on the official website of the PMF: www.pmf.unizg.hr (Competitions).
