The Faculty Council of the Faculty of Science, University of Zagreb (hereinafter: the PMF), pursuant to Article 32(1)(19) and Article 77 of the Faculty Statutes, announces the following:

C A L L   F O R   A P P L I C A T I O N S

for the appointment of 

1) an associate to the category I. associate position - assistant in natural sciences, the field of geology, for a fixed term of 6 years and on a full-time basis, to work at the Division of Geology and Palaeontology of the PMF, Department of Geology – 1 person

2) an associate to the category I. associate position - assistant in natural sciences, the field of chemistry, the branch of organic chemistry, for a fixed term (until the return of a colleague on maternity/parental leave) and on a full-time basis, at the Division of Organic Chemistry of the PMF, Department of Chemistry – 1 person

3) an associate to the category I. associate position - assistant in natural sciences, the field of chemistry, the branch of organic chemistry, for a fixed term and on a full-time basis, in the framework of the Croatian Science Foundation programme: “Young Researchers’ Career Development – Training New Doctoral Students within investment C3.2 R2-I1 ‘Developing a stimulating career advancement model and conducting leading scientific research in STEM and ICT’ (NPOO-DOK-2023-10)”, to work on the following project: “Total synthesis of bioactive metabolites – from deep-sea microorganisms to the new class of antibiotics and synthetic methodologies (ToSiAn)”, at the Division of Organic Chemistry of the PMF Department of Chemistry – 1 person

TERMS AND CONDITIONS:

The Call is open to applicants of either gender on equal terms.

In addition to the general terms and conditions of employment, for any point of the Call the applicants must satisfy the requirements set out in the Act on Higher Education and Scientific Activity (Official Gazette No 119/22).

 

For all points of the Call, in addition to the application the applicants submit: a CV, the relevant diploma, a proof of citizenship.

For point 1, the applicants must satisfy the following conditions:  

 

  • a completed university graduate study programme of Geology; or a university graduate study programme of Environmental Geology; or a university graduate study programme of Geological Engineering; or a related geology programme;
  • a grade point average achieved at each of the undergraduate and graduate levels of 4.00;
  • knowledge and experience relevant to geological-palaeontological research. The supporting documents may include a diploma with the accompanying supplement or a CV.

For point 2, the applicants must satisfy the following conditions

 

  • a completed university graduate study programme of Chemistry, research-oriented;
  • additional requirement: participation to the research into organic compounds synthesis and characterisation. The supporting documents may include a proof of participation in such work (e.g. theses, dissertations, conference proceedings). 

For point 3, the applicants must satisfy the following conditions

 

  • a completed university graduate study programme of Chemistry, research-oriented;
  • requirements for admission to the doctoral study in chemistry, University of Zagreb Faculty of Science,
  • additional requirement: experience relevant to organic synthesis with an emphasis on total synthesis. The supporting documents may include a thesis and /or research papers focusing on the relevant topics.

Foreign nationals must provide a Croatian language certificate for all points of the Call.

 

For point 1 of the Call the applicants should enclose with their application a proof of eligibility under the additional terms and conditions in accordance with the Ordinance on Additional Terms and Conditions for Appointment into Research-Teaching, Teaching and Associate Grades and the Corresponding Positions at the Department of Geology, Faculty of Science, University of Zagreb.

For points 2 and 3 of the Call the applicants should enclose with their application a proof of eligibility under the additional terms and conditions in accordance with the Ordinance on Additional Terms and Conditions for Appointment into Grades and the Corresponding Positions at the Department of Chemistry, Faculty of Science, University of Zagreb. For all points of the Call the applicants who qualify for employment preference under the special regulations should refer to the preference in their application and enclose therewith all evidence as listed in the special regulations governing the priority placement rights, as well as all evidence of eligibility and of absence of any impediment to their exercising of the priority placement rights as stipulated under the special regulations. Such applicants will be given employment preference within this Call over other candidates, under the same terms and conditions of the Call, based on a duly completed, complete and timely application, provided they meet all the terms and conditions of the Call and that they have achieved top scores in the selection procedures.   

 

An application shall be deemed duly completed and complete if it contains all the data and the supporting documents in keeping with the Call requirements. Incomplete, disorganised, and late applications shall not be taken into consideration, nor shall the applicants be invited to amend them subsequently.

 

The assessment of the applicants applying for point 1 of the Call may take the form of the following selection procedure:

  • a written test of knowledge, skills and capabilities that are relevant for the appointment;
  • English language proficiency test; and
  • an interview with the candidates
  • psychological testing.

The assessment of the applicants applying for points 2 and 3 of the Call may take the form of the following selection procedure:

  • an interview with the candidates.

The applicants who are fully eligible under the formal terms and conditions of the Call may be invited to take part in the selection procedure.

 

In case there will be more than one selection procedure, the applicants will receive a separate invitation for the subsequent procedures depending on the results achieved in the previous selection procedures.

 

In the separate e-mail invitation, the applicants will be informed of the time, place, legal sources and the method of selection that will be applied in the procedure.

 

Any applicants who fail to attend any of the selection procedures as specified in the separate invitation, shall be deemed to have withdrawn from the Call proceedings.

 

The PMF collects and processes personal data of the applicants taking part in the Call for Applications for positions with the aim of verifying qualifications and eligibility in accordance with the Decision on the Collection, Protection and Processing of Personal Data (CLASSIFICATION No: 035-01/18-01/5; FILE No:251-58-10201-18-2).

 

The closing date for the submission of applications for the Call is 30 days after the publication of the Call in the Official Gazette. 

The results of the Call will be published on the official website of the PMF: www.pmf.unizg.hr (Competitions).
