Pursuant to Articles 76, and 77 of the Faculty Statutes, the Faculty Council of the University of Zagreb, Faculty of Science (hereinafter: the PMF), announces the following:

 

C A L L   F O R   A P P L I C A T I O N S

for appointment 

 

1)  of an associate to the associate category I position - assistant in natural science, the field of chemistry, the branch of organic chemistry, for a fixed term and on a full-time basis, to work on the Croatian Science Foundation project: Young Researchers' Career Development – Training New Doctoral Students (DOK-2025-02), Microorganisms as source of new antibiotics - From total synthesis to new chemical space and methodology IP-2024-05-5352, at the Division of Organic Chemistry of the PMF’s Department of Chemistry – 1 person

4) of an associate to the associate category I position - assistant in natural science, the field of chemistry, the branch of physical chemistry, for a fixed term and on a full-time basis, to work on the Croatian Science Foundation project: Young Researchers' Career Development – Training New Doctoral Students (DOK-2025-02), Thermodynamic, spectroscopic, and structural aspects of calixarene coordination reactions IP-2024-05-3012, at the Division of Physical Chemistry of the PMF’s Department of Chemistry – 1 person

5) to the expert category I position – expert associate in the science and higher education system in natural science, the field of geology, for an indefinite term and on a full-time basis, at the PMF’s Department of Geology, Division of Geology and Paleontology - 1 person.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS:

The Call is open to applicants of either gender on equal terms.

In addition to the general terms and conditions of employment, for any point of the Call the applicants must satisfy the requirements set out in the Act on Higher Education and Scientific Activity (Official Gazette No 119/22).

 

The applicants must enclose the following with their application: a CV, the relevant diploma, a proof of citizenship, the transcript of records of the completed university undergraduate and graduate studies or the university integrated studies.

 

The applicants for points 1 of the Call must satisfy the following conditions:

-             a completed university graduate study programme in chemistry; research-oriented;

-             eligibility for enrolment into the doctoral study programme in chemistry;

-             incomplete doctoral study programme; 

-             additional conditions:

  • experience in organic synthesis with an emphasis on the peptide synthesis, which can be demonstrated by attaching a graduation thesis or published research papers with a relevant topic;

The applicants for point 2 of the Call must satisfy the following conditions:

-             a completed university graduate study programme in chemistry; research-oriented;

-             eligibility for enrolment into the doctoral study programme in chemistry;

-             incomplete doctoral study programme; 

-             additional conditions:

  • experience in organic synthesis and spectroscopic characterisation of compounds, the chemistry of hydrocarbons, and the design and preparation of compounds with a remote chirality transfer, which can be demonstrated by attaching a thesis or a dissertation, or an abstract of conference proceedings.  

The applicants for point 3 must satisfy the following conditions:

- a completed university graduate study programme in chemistry: research-oriented; or a university integrated undergraduate and graduate study programme in biology and chemistry: teaching-oriented; or a university integrated undergraduate and graduate study programme in physics and chemistry; teaching-oriented.

-  eligibility for enrolment into the doctoral study programme in chemistry;

- incomplete doctoral studies; 

- additional conditions:

  • experience related to the use of solid-state material analysis techniques, which can be demonstrated by attaching a thesis or a dissertation, or by participation in a conference or by a scientific paper. 

The applicants for point 4 must satisfy the following conditions:

- a completed university graduate study programme in chemistry: research-oriented; or a university graduate study programme in chemical engineering; or a university graduate study programme in chemistry and materials engineering; or a university graduate study programme in applied chemistry.

-  eligibility for enrolment into the doctoral study programme in chemistry;

- incomplete doctoral studies; 

- additional conditions:

  • experience related to the participation in scientific research work or scientific conference presentation, which can be demonstrated by attaching the abstracts of conference proceedings.
  • experience related to the use of spectrometric methods, which can be demonstrated by attaching a thesis or a dissertation and/or the abstracts of conference proceedings. 

The applicants for point 5 must satisfy the following conditions:

- a completed university graduate study programme in natural science, the field of geology. 

 

The applicants under points 1, 2, 3, and 4 of the Call should enclose with their respective applications the evidence of eligibility in accordance with the Ordinance on Additional Terms and Conditions for Appointment into Grades and the Corresponding Positions at the PMF’s Department of Chemistry, University of Zagreb. Foreign nationals applying under any point of the Call must provide a Croatian language certificate.

 

The applicants applying under any point of the Call who qualify for employment preference under the special regulations should refer to the preference in their application and enclose therewith all evidence as listed in the special regulations governing the priority placement rights, as well as all evidence of eligibility and of absence of any impediment to their exercising of the priority placement rights as stipulated under the special regulations. Such applicants will be given employment preference within this Call over other candidates, under the same terms and conditions of the Call, based on a duly completed, complete and timely application, provided they meet all the terms and conditions of the Call and that they have achieved top scores in the selection procedure.   

 

An application shall be deemed duly completed and complete if it contains all the data and the supporting documents in keeping with the Call requirements. Incomplete, disorganised, and late applications shall not be taken into consideration, nor will there be a subsequent invitation to the applicants to amend such applications.

 

The applicants who fully satisfy the formal terms and conditions of the Call may be invited to take part in an interview as part of the selection procedure.

 

The applicants invited to take part in the interview will receive a special e-mail invitation with the details of the time and the place of the interview.

  

Any applicant who fails to attend the interview as part of the selection procedure they have been invited to pursuant to the special e-mail invitation, shall be deemed to have withdrawn from the Call proceedings.

 

The PMF collects and processes personal data of the applicants taking part in the Call for Applications for positions with the aim of verifying qualifications and eligibility in accordance with the Decision on the Collection, Protection and Processing of Personal Data (CLASSIFICATION No: 035-01/18-01/5; FILE No:251-58-10201-18-2).

 

The closing date for the submission of applications for all points of the Call is 30 days after the publication of the Call in the Official Gazette. 

 

The results of the Call will be published on the official PMF website: www.pmf.unizg.hr (Competitions).
