TERMS AND CONDITIONS:

The Call is open to applicants of either gender on equal terms.

In addition to the general terms and conditions of employment, for any point of the Call the applicants must satisfy the requirements set out in the Act on Higher Education and Scientific Activity (Official Gazette No 119/22).

The applicants must enclose the following with their application: a CV, the relevant diploma, a proof of citizenship, the transcript of records of the completed university undergraduate and graduate studies or the university integrated studies.

The applicants for point 1 of the Call must satisfy the following conditions:

-             a completed doctoral study programme in biology; 

-             additional conditions:

• experience relating to oxidative stress and tumor biology, which can be demonstrated by attaching published scientific papers;
• experience in delivering university courses and practicums in natural science, the field of biology, which can be demonstrated by attaching the appropriate certificates.

The applicants for point 1 must enclose with their application other supporting documents as evidence of eligibility in accordance with Article 10 of the Ordinance on the Appointment into Grades and Positions at the University of Zagreb Faculty of Science, which can be found on the PMF website:

The applicants under point 1 of the Call must enclose: a photocopy of the decision concerning their appointment into a research grade (if applicable), the proofs of the research, teaching and professional work, the reprints of papers, and a certificate of registration and citation in the relevant databases – Web of Science Core Collection, Scopus, Medline, and other databases relevant for specific science fields. The applicants must also enclose a Declaration of Originality for their published academic output, confirming that all their papers and achievements they refer to are the original results of their work and that they do not contain any sources other than the ones mentioned and acknowledged therein. Additionally, the applicants under point 1 of the Call should also submit the evidence of eligibility according to the Decision on the essential terms and conditions for assessment of the teaching, and the scientific and professional activities within the framework of appointment into research-teaching grades Narodne novine 122/2017 (Official Gazette No 122/17) and its subsequent amendment Narodne novine 120/2021 (Official Gazette No 120/21).

The applicants for point 2 of the Call must satisfy the following conditions:

- a completed university graduate study programme in molecular biology or university graduate study programme in experimental biology;

- an overall grade point average in the previous study levels (undergraduate, graduate) higher than 3.5;

- eligibility for enrolment in the doctoral study programme in biology;

- incomplete doctoral study programme; 

- additional conditions:

• laboratory experience relating to the genetic cloning methods and animal cell cultures, which can be demonstrated by attaching a CV and listing the relevant laboratory experience (as part of the master’s thesis or the practical laboratory work during the studies), and the methods and techniques used.  

The applicants for point 3 must satisfy the following conditions:

- a completed university graduate study programme in molecular biology;

- an overall grade point average in the previous study levels (undergraduate, graduate) higher than 3.50;

- eligibility for enrolment in the doctoral study programme in biology;

- incomplete doctoral studies; 

- additional conditions:

• laboratory experience in the area of nanomaterial phytotoxicity effects on terrestrial plants and algae, which can be demonstrated by providing proof of practical laboratory work in the relevant field of research or a master’s thesis with a topic relevant to the above field of research;
• experience relating to gene expression using qPCR methods, which can be demonstrated by providing evidence of practical laboratory work in this field of research or a master’s thesis with a topic relevant to this field of research.

The applicants for point 4 must satisfy the following conditions:

- a completed university graduate study programme in molecular biology or university graduate study programme in experimental biology or a university integrated undergraduate and graduate study programme in biology and chemistry;

- an overall grade point average in the previous study levels (undergraduate, graduate or integrated) higher than 3.50;

- eligibility for enrolment in the doctoral study programme in biology;

- incomplete doctoral studies; 

- additional conditions:

• laboratory experience relating to genetic engineering methods, which can be demonstrated by providing proof of practical laboratory work in the relevant field of research or a master’s thesis with a topic relevant to the above field of research.

The applicants for point 5 must satisfy the following conditions:

-  a completed university graduate study programme in molecular biology;

-  an overall grade point average in the previous study levels (undergraduate, graduate) higher than 3.50;

-  eligibility for enrolment in the doctoral study programme in biology;

-  incomplete doctoral studies; 

-  additional conditions:

• participation in scientific research work in the field of biomedicine. The supporting documents should include scientific publications (papers and conference proceedings), certificates of laboratory practice;
• C-level English, which can be demonstrated by attaching an English language certificate;
• use of R programming language, which can be demonstrated by providing a relevant certificate or a proof of completion of courses where the use of R programming language is essential, or by attaching the transcript of records showing completion of courses where the use of R programming language is essential. 

The applicants for point 6 must satisfy the following conditions:

- a completed university graduate study programme in experimental biology or university graduate study programme in ecology and environmental protection or university graduate study programme in molecular biology or integrated undergraduate and graduate study programme in biology and chemistry;

- an overall grade point average in the previous study levels (undergraduate, graduate) higher than 3.50;

- eligibility for enrolment in the doctoral study programme in biology;

- incomplete doctoral studies; 

- additional conditions:

• experience or interest in ecological modelling and experimental work, as well as scientific research experience (the supporting documents should include published peer-reviewed papers, participation in scientific projects, practical work, personal presentations in scientific conferences and similar documents);

For all points of the Call, the applicants should enclose with their respective applications the evidence of eligibility in accordance with the Ordinance on Additional Terms and Conditions for Appointment into Grades and the Corresponding Positions at the University of Zagreb PMF’s Department of Biology, and its subsequent amendment.

Foreign nationals applying under points 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5 of the Call must provide a Croatian language certificate.

The applicants applying under any point of the Call who qualify for employment preference under the special regulations should refer to the preference in their application and enclose therewith all evidence as listed in the special regulations governing the priority placement rights, as well as all evidence of eligibility and of absence of any impediment to their exercising of the priority placement rights as stipulated under the special regulations. Such applicants will be given employment preference within this Call over other candidates, under the same terms and conditions of the Call, based on a duly completed, complete and timely application, provided they meet all the terms and conditions of the Call and that they have achieved top scores in the selection procedure.

An application shall be deemed duly completed and complete if it contains all the data and the supporting documents in keeping with the Call requirements. Incomplete, disorganised, and late applications shall not be taken into consideration, nor will there be a subsequent invitation to the applicants to amend such applications.

The applicants who fully satisfy the formal terms and conditions of the Call may be invited to take part in an interview as part of the selection procedure.

The applicants invited to take part in the interview will receive a special e-mail invitation with the details of the time and the place of the interview.

Any applicant who fails to attend the interview as part of the selection procedure they have been invited to pursuant to the special e-mail invitation, shall be deemed to have withdrawn from the Call proceedings.

The PMF collects and processes personal data of the applicants taking part in the Call for Applications for positions with the aim of verifying qualifications and eligibility in accordance with the Decision on the Collection, Protection and Processing of Personal Data (CLASSIFICATION No: 035-01/18-01/5; FILE No:251-58-10201-18-2).

The closing date for the submission of applications for all points of the Call is 30 days after the publication of the Call in the Official Gazette.
