Introduction - basics. Software. Introduction to GIS. Data presentation in GIS. GIS projects. Models and data formats. Organization of spatial database. Coordination systems. Input and preparation of data. Analysis. Data presentation. Modelling.

Learning outcomes:

Understanding the role of computer technology in solving geological problems.
Understanding basic concepts of digital modeling of spatial entities.
Knowledge of coordinate systems, cartographic projections and coordinate transformations, and understanding their role when working with spatial data.
Basic understanding of database structures.
Ability to apply digital technologies (GPS, GIS, World Wide Web) in spatial data collection.
Ability to apply basic GIS techniques for processing, analysis and presentation of spatial data.
