The Division of Geometry is a part of the Faculty of Science from its establishment, first as the
Seminar for Geometry and Institute of Geometry, and under the present name since 1959. From 1949
to 1978 the Division was chaired by prof. Stanko Bilinski (1909-1998), full member of the national
Academy of Sciences and Arts.
Current scientific research at the Division of Geometry is focused on three main themes: differential
geometry of curves and surfaces in special ambient spaces, finite geometries and design theory, and
geometric properties and models of special classes of quasigroups. Members of the Division also address
other topics in a wider area of geometry, as well as in the area of mathematical inequalities and
mathematics education.
The Division covers teaching of geometric subjects in all undergraduate and graduate study programs at
the Department of Mathematics, Faculty of Science. Among the courses led my members of the Division are
Elementary Geometry, Constructive Methods in Geometry, Euclidean Spaces, Models of Geometry, Introduction
to Differential Geometry, Projective Geometry, Non-Euclidean Geometry, Descriptive Geometry and Finite
Geometries.
