All teaching activities will be held in Croatian. However, foreign students in mixed groups will have the opportunity to attend additional office hours with the lecturer and teaching assistants in English to help master the course materials. Additionally, the lecturer will refer foreign students to the corresponding literature in English, as well as give them the possibility of taking the associated exams in English.

Description:
LEARNING OUTCOMES:

1. describe the key interactions between the physical, abiotic and biological characteristics of freshwaters
2. demonstrate knowledge of the distribution and abundance of organisms across a variety of ecosystems including streams, wetlands, lakes and ground waters
3. interpret and understand the processes that control the structure and functioning of freshwater ecosystems
4. can use standard laboratory methods and fieldwork techniques
5. analyze and evaluate scientific literature and data
6. create and plan the experimental work in freshwater ecology

3. Production and trofic state in freshwater
4. Community stability
5. Methods in freshwater ecology
6. Physical characteristics and structure of lotic systems
7. The main features and characteristics of streams and rivers
8. Characteristics of rivers belonging to Black Sea and Adriatic basins
9. Benefits of biodiversity to wetland biom
10. Crenobiology
11. Groundwater ecology
12. Plankton freshwater communities
13. Macrozoobenthos and periphyton
14. Human impact on freshwater ecosystems
15. Synthesis and repetition
