5. An associate to the position of a senior assistant in  natural science, the field of biology, the branch of zoology and/or ecology, general biology and/or biochemistry and molecular biology, and/or evolutionary genetics and phylogeny, for a fixed term and on a full-time basis, to work on the following Croatian Science Foundation installation research project: UIP-2020-02-5385 titled: „Spacetime Variability of the Land and Water Community of Intermittent Rivers of the Dinaric Karst“ at the Division of Zoology of the PMF's Department of Biology – 1 person.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS:

The Call is open to applicants of both sexes on equal terms.

In addition to the general terms and conditions of employment, the applicants for all points of the Call must satisfy the conditions set forth in the Act on Higher Education and Scientific Activity (Official Gazette No 119/2022).

In addition to their respective applications, for the points 1, 2, 3, and 4 of the Calls the applicants submit: a CV, the relevant diploma, a proof of citizenship.

For the points 1, 2, 3, and 4, the applicants must satisfy the following condition: to hold a doctorate degree in natural science, the field of biology.

For the point 1 of the Call, the applicants must also satisfy the following additional conditions: to have experience related to the immunology, immunogenetics and oncology research, working with animal models, as well as experience related to teaching physiology, immunology and immunogenetics.

The applicants’ eligibility with respect to the additional scientific and professional conditions will be assessed on the basis of the topics and the methods used in their respective doctoral theses and published scientific output, whereas their teaching experience will be assessed against the teaching load print out from the ISVU (Higher Education Teaching Institutions Information System). 

For the point 2 of the Call, the applicants must satisfy the following additional conditions: to have experience related to determination of vascular plants, mosses and Characean algae; botanical field research; working with herbarium collections; monitoring of plant species and vegetation; statistical processing of vegetation data.

The evidence of eligibility against the additional conditions includes the lead authorship of published scientific output in the fields of botany and vegetational ecology.

For the point 3 of the Call, the applicants must satisfy the following additional conditions: to have experience related to determination of phytoplankton and phytobenthos; freshwater field research; working with diatom collections; molecular methods for the freshwater microbial community analysis; and monitoring.

The evidence of eligibility against the additional conditions includes the lead authorship of published scientific output in the fields of the taxonomy of freshwater algae, and the microbial ecology of the freshwater ecosystems.

For the point 4 of the Call, the applicants must satisfy the following additional conditions: to have scientific work experience related to the ecology of freshwater protozoa.

To prove their eligibility against the additional conditions the applicants should submit their published scientific output, or evidence of experience in providing university practicum and fieldwork instruction.

For the point 5 of the Call, the applicants must satisfy the following additional condition: to hold a doctoral degree in natural science.

In addition to their respective applications, the applicants must provide the evidence to prove that they meet the additional terms and conditions according to the Ordinance on Additional Terms and Conditions for Appointment into Grades and the Corresponding Positions at the Department of Biology, Faculty of Science, University of Zagreb.

The applicants who qualify for employment preference under the special regulations have to invoke the preference in their application and provide all evidence as listed in the special regulations governing the priority placement rights, as well as all evidence of eligibility and of absence of any impediment to the exercise of the priority placement rights as stipulated under the special regulations. Such applicants will be given employment preference within this Call over other candidates, under the same terms and conditions of the Call, based on a duly completed, complete and timely application, provided they meet all the terms and conditions of the Call and that they have achieved the top scores at the interview. An application shall be deemed duly completed and complete if it contains all the data and supporting documents in keeping with the Call requirements.

Incomplete and late applications shall not be taken into consideration.

The applicants for the points 1, 2, 4, and 5 who fully satisfy all the formal terms and conditions of the Call, based on a duly completed, complete and timely application, will take part in an interview with the Selection Board.

The applicants for the points 1, 2, 4, and 5 of the Call will receive a separate invitation with the exact time and place of the interview. Any applicants who fail to attend the interview at the time and the place as specified in the separate invitation shall be deemed to have withdrawn from the Call proceedings.

For the point 3 of the Call, the applicants who fully satisfy all the formal terms and conditions of the Call, based on a duly completed, complete and timely application, shall be invited to sit for a test (determination of the freshwater phytoplankton and phytobenthos) and take part in an interview with the Selection Board.

The applicants for the point 3 of the Call will receive a separate invitation with the exact time and place of the test and the interview. Any applicants who fail to attend the test and the interview at the time and the place as specified in the separate invitation shall be deemed to have withdrawn from the Call proceedings.

The PMF collects and processes personal data of the applicants taking part in the Call for Applications for positions with the aim of verifying qualifications and eligibility in accordance with the Decision on the Collection, Protection and Processing of Personal Data (CLASSIFICATION No: 035-01/18-01; FILE No:251-58-10201-18-2).

The closing date for the submission of applications for the Call is 30 days after the publication of the Call in the Official Gazette. 

The results of the Call will be published on the PMF website: www.pmf.unizg.hr (Competitions).
