Description:
Acquiring knowledge about the characteristics and types of igneous, metamorphic and sedimentary rocks and about approaches to interpreting the process of their formation. Gaining knowledge about the structure and environments of the formation of the chronostratigraphic units of the Dinarides from the Upper Paleozoic, Mesozoic and Cenozoic. Students learn how to observe, study and record features in rocks, and how to recognize individual chronostratigraphic units of the Dinarides. The observed phenomena are understood as part of the geological structure and evolution of the wider area. Fieldwork is an integral part of the courses Historical Geology I, Petrology of Igneous and Metamorphic Rocks, Petrology of Sediments and Historical Geology II. The goal includes teaching about the basic field tools of geologists.
