Title: Old and new about the Atiyah class

Abstract: We will review the development of the notion of the Atiyah class, essentially a class measuring the obstruction to the existence of various, mainly geometric, structures. The focus will be on the major generalizations of the class in Geometry and Representation Theory reaching the recent attempts to introduce it to nonlinear settings. Parts of the talk will be about joint works with Sylvain Lavau, Fani Petalidou and Yannick Voglaire.

Title: Dorfman Connections of Courant algebroids and the Atiyah classnof Manin pairs

Abstract: In this talk, after a short introduction to Courant algebroids and the related algebras defined by them, we will present the notion of Dorfman connection of a Courant algebroid on a vector bundle and some basic results about this. Then, we will focus on the

role of such connections in the definition of the Atiyah class of Manin pairs and we will present some interesting examples. This is a joint work with Panagiotis Batakidis.
