Seismology at the Department of Geophysics

Seismologists at the Department of Geophysics investigate the causes and properties of earthquakes in Croatia and the physical properties of the Earth’s lithosphere and the uppermost mantle throughout Croatia. They research involves also topics of engineering seismology and seismic hazard assessment.

Seiesmologist at the Depatment work both in the Andrija Mohorovičić Geophysical Institute and the Seismological Survey.  The first ones are mostly involved in scintific research and teaching, while the latter ones are focused on professional work in sesimicity monitoring in Croatia as well as development and maintaining of the permament seismic network. However, both cooperate tightly and work together in many projects, research and professional.
