 ABSTRACT: Climate change will affect tourism and recreation. Therefore visitors will change destination and places of favour for several reasons. Climate change implications will not only be on ecological but also on economical issues.
The effects of specific climate conditions in tourism areas occur not only in the meso scale but more in the micro scale, where visitors and local population spend most of their time during day and night. The knowledge of possibilities for mitigation and adaptation of current and expected climate conditions require interdisciplinary approaches and solutions. Many climate phenomena and conditions are well studied in a qualitative manner but the quantity manner is not well investigated until now. Current research is focused on the quantification of strategies for reductions of extremes and frequencies as well as thresholds in tourism areas. Additional options based on the micro scale level are possibilities for the improvement of the local and regional climate.
General knowledge of climate parameters and thresholds and their appropriateness for tourism and recreation are basic information about several possibilities for tourism and recreation, i.e. too much high sun load or strong winds. Climate extremes, i.e. heat waves or storms, are at most relevant because of the possible damages on infrastructure and human life.
Examples based on climate networks, climate simulations and climate impact research on tourism will be shown.

Studentima 2. godine diplomskog sveučilišnog studija fizika – geofizika je prisustvovanje predavanjima u sklopu Geofizičkog seminara obavezno.
