Dr. Müller (RBGK): ‘The Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew’s Millennium Seed Bank - a global partnership for plant conservation’

The Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew is more than a botanic garden. Its motto is ‘To inspire and deliver science-based plant conservation worldwide to enhance the quality of life’. Kew Gardens’ Millennium Seed Bank Partnership is a global plant conservation network, linking seed banks and plant conservation institutions in more than 60 countries worldwide. Seeds of 25% of the world’s flora will be collected by 2020. Examples are given how these seeds are made available for innovation and adaptation in agriculture, horticulture, and forestry.
