Dijana Škorić stekla je stupanj doktora znanosti iz polja biologija 2000. godine na Sveučilištu u Zagrebu. Zaposlena je kao redoviti profesor u trajnom zvanju na Prirodoslovno-matematičkom fakultetu (Biološki odsjek) Sveučilišta u Zagrebu gdje održava nastavu na preddiplomskim, diplomskim i doktorskim studijima iz kolegija povezanih s molekularnom virologijom, subvirusnim patogenima, a pokrenula je i kolegij društveno korisnog učenja u biologiji. Do sada je bila mentor dviju doktorskih disertacija, i više od 40 magistarskih, diplomskih i završnih radova.
Znanstveni interesi su joj u području molekularne biljne patologije s naglascima na raznolikost biljnih virusa i subvirusnih patogena (viroida), molekularnu karakterizaciju, epidemiologiju i raznolikost fitoplazmi i ostalih nekultivabilnih bakterija. Bila je Fulbrightov stipendist na Department of Plant Pathology, University of California-Riverside, SAD, korisnica EMBO short-term istraživačke stipendije na Dipartimento di Patologia Vegetale e Scienze Ambientali, University of Bologna, Italija, gdje je kasnije bila i TEMPUS-stipendist, te gostujući mladi istraživač na Dipartimento di Patologia Vegetale, Università di Bari, Italija.
Dijana Škorić bila je predsjednica dvaju znanstvenih odbora međunarodnih kongresa, predsjednica organizacijskih odbora jednog domaćeg kongresa s međunarodnim sudjelovanjem i dva međunarodna simpozija. Osobno je prezentirala pet pozvanih predavanja na međunarodnim i domaćim skupovima s međunarodnim sudjelovanjem.
Bila je voditeljica istraživačkog hrvatsko-slovenskog HRZZ projekta, dva bilateralna projekta Ministarstva znanosti i obrazovanja, EU projekta društveno korisnog učenja „U društvu mikroba“ iz Europskog socijalnog fonda, a sudjelovala je u provođenju šest međunarodna znanstvena projekta kako slijedi:

D. Škorić je članica međunarodnih i domaćih znanstvenih odbora i društava. Članica je Hrvatskog biološkog društva 1885 i Hrvatskog mikrobiološkog društva (HMD). Predstavlja HMD u International Committee on Taxonomy of Viruses (ICTV) od 2012. i u International Union of Microbiological Societies (IUMS) od 2022. Bila je predsjednica je Virološke sekcije HMD-a 2013-2017., i predstavnica HMD-a u Federation of European Microbiological Societies (FEMS) 2018-2021. Također je članica International Organization of Citrus Virologists (IOCV), International Council for the Study of Virus and Virus-like Diseases of the Grapevine (ICVG), International Council for the Study of Virus and other Graft Transmissible Diseases of Fruit Crops (ICVF) u kojem je i u znanstvenom odboru od 2019., i. Između ostalih, obnašala je dužnost zamjenika pročelnika Biološkog odsjeka i pomoćnika za nastavu (2010-2011.) i predstojnice Zavoda za mikrobiologiju (2016-2020).
Prof. dr. sc. Dijana Škorić objavila je više od sedamdeset znanstvenih i stručnih radova, pet poglavlja u međunarodnim knjigama, tri u domaćim i bila koautorica sveučilišnog udžbenika. Sudjelovala je na više od 35 međunarodnih znanstvenih skupova. Aktivno se, osim engleskim, služi francuskim i talijanskim jezikom.
Bila je članica uređivačkog odbora (kao associate editor 2010.-2014. i kao senior editor od 2015 do 2023.) znanstvenog časopisa Journal of Plant Pathology, a od 2022. je članica uredništva Frontiers in Microbiology.
Recenzent je preko 80 radova za časopise koje navode baze SCI, JCR i Scopus (Journal of Plant Pathology, Plant Disease, Plant Pathology, Canadian Journal of Phytopathology, Journal of Phytopathology, New Phytologist, Journal of Virological Methods, Phytopatologia Mediterranea, Acta Botanica Croatica, itd.), recenzent znanstvenih projekata za američki NSF, švedski ISF, te evaluator u postupcima izbora u zvanja na stranim i domaćim akademskim institucijama.
